About the recipe

Onion gravy is an incredibly classic and super easy sauce to make.
I do not know why I have not come up with it before, but it is now that I have started to eat a more dairy-free diet that it struck me that I can make onion gravy instead of a classic white onion sauce.

I had it with my good elk patties and it sat like a charm. Incredibly good!

Ingredients

Yields6 Servings
 10.50 oz Onion
 1 Garlic clove
 2.10 pt Veal stock/brothOr other meat stock/broth.
 2 tbsp Arrowroot
Butter for searingUse oil if you want it all dairy-free.

Instructions

1

Slice the onion and chop the garlic.

2

Fry the onion and garlic in the butter / oil.
It should not get a lot of color, but it can get a little color.
Fry until slightly softened.

3

Add the stock, tamari soy and a little black pepper.
Bring to the boil and then simmer for about 10 minutes on low heat.

4

Mix the arrowroot in a little cold water, only a couple of tablespoons of water are needed.

5

Then stir the arrowroot into the boiling broth until you have a reasonably smooth consistency.
This gravy should not be thick, but it should be smooth.

6

Then taste with salt and pepper and then serve with good pan steaks or similar.
